The 26th annual prize distribution ceremony of Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School (PVHSS) Dimapur was held at Bharat Sevashram Sangha (BSS) Dimapur on Wednesday.
BSS Kolkata joint secretary, Swami Abhoyananda graced the programme as chief guest while BSS Kolkata joint secretary & PVHSS Dimapur president, Swami Hiranmaya Nanda was guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, Swami Abhoyananda reflected on the main purpose of BSS and stated that its founder, Acharya Swami Pranabananda’s vision was to lift the downtrodden and provide them with education.
He said that the organization was trying its best to help the needy and victims of natural calamities all over the country. Expressing his hope that BSS centers would be opened in all the North East Indian states soon, the chief guest further called upon PVHSS Dimapur to impart true ‘moral’ and ‘spiritual’ education to its students.
‘I hope the children and students of Pranab Parivaar will follow the footsteps of Guruji Pranabananda in lifting up the poor and downtrodden’, he added. Swami Abhoyananda also paid homage to PVHSS Dimapur founder secretary & BSS Dimapur chief organizer, late Manik Bhattacharjee.
Earlier, PVHSS principal, Monoj Bhattacharjee delivered welcome address and School Annual Report while short speeches were read out by the school headmaster, L. C. Das and school secretary, Swami Chinmayananda. Other highlights of the programme included launching of school magazine ‘The Pranabam’ by chief guest and guest of honour, speech and songs presented by students.
The latter part of the programme saw various colorful cultural performances by PVHSS students. Academic prizes were awarded to various students and the school acknowledged its students who secured positions in HSLC and HSSLC (Science & Commerce).
The programme coincides with Golden Jubilee celebration of BSS Dimapur and the completion of 25 years of PVHSS Dimapur. Students, parents, teachers and around 50 Swamis from various places attended the programme.
