To commemorate the 40th anniversary of ‘Earth Day’, a massive tree plantation programme was organized by Peren district planning and development board on April 30 at the new district H.Q. site, with of T.R. Zeliang, minister planning & co-ordination, Vety. & A.H., Evaluation and chairman DPDB as the chief patron.
The plantation programme was launched with a signature campaign organized by society for protection of ecology and environment, where the minister put his initial and commented – ‘Let Us Regenerate Nature’ followed by all HoD in Peren district.
The programme was chaired by Khrienuo C. Metha, deputy commissioner and chairperson, SPEE Peren district and Samuel Chankija IFS , DFO Peren as the main moderator of the programme.
In the programme, more than one thousand participants took part consisting of all departments in the district, Zeliangrong gazetted officer association; apex NGO’s, students and village volunteers who actively participated in and around the acquired new district H.Q.
