A training programme on Saak Shar Bharat (Literate India) block and village level was conducted at GHSS auditorium, Tuensang on May 20 on the theme “Meet the Block Panchayat and Gram Panchayat Pradhan Campaign”.
The training was organized by State Resource Centre (SRC), Tripura in collaboration with State Literacy Mission Authority (SLMA), Nagaland.
The main resource person for the training was director SRC Tripura who gave guidance on the programme entry point of function, responsibility and authority.
According to the director, the programme is a centrally sponsored scheme of the department of school education and literacy (DSEL), ministry of human resource development (MHRD) government of India. It aims to promote and strengthen adult education especially for women, SC/ST and religious minority- Muslims.
He also gave guidance on how to impart functional literacy and numeracy to non-literate and non-numerate adults; enable the neo-literate adults to continue their learning beyond basic literacy and acquire equivalence to formal educational system; impart non-literates and neo-literates relevant skill development programme to improve their earning and living conditions and promote a learning society by providing opportunities to neo-literate adults for continuing education. Host of representatives from different villages and officials from education department attended the programme.
