In one of its first venture since the establishment of farmers’ wing, NPF in 2008, the Confederation of Naga Farmers’ Union (CONFU) flagged off truckload of first eco-friendly broom from Nagaland to Guwahati by minister soil & water conservation and land resources, P. Longon at CONFU Store Asst. director office F&C supplies Dimapur on Saturday. Longon said “Local area development fund may not reach every people but under CONFU’s activities, we believe that every Naga farmer would be benefited in one way or the other”.  Longon asserted that NPF and CONFU together would work to take the state towards greater heights.  Speaking at the occasion, President CONFU, Lanukaba pointed out that though Nagaland had immense potentials in broom production; farmers faced difficulties to enter into market in other states though the demand was high. However, he stated that Nagaland would slowly be able to meet the demand of the outside market by providing eco-friendly products while 29,800 finished brooms has been flagged off this time.  He expressed optimism that CONFU would be exporting more by building partners with local craftsmen and that the union forsees the broom business as one of the biggest market in the North-East.  Mentioning about the Farmer’s Wing and CONFU, Lanukaba said that many Nagas have directly or indirectly been employed under its banner and further called for more youth to participate in solving the unemployment issue.
