The Pochury Mothers Association (PMA) has extended its support to the decision of the apex Naga Mothers Association and the Joint Action Committee with regard to the implementation of the 33% women reservation in all towns and municipal councils.
President, PMA, Machü Joshou in an emailed statement received here today urged the government of Nagaland for immediate implementation of the same, stating it was high time the government take into consideration the plight of its women.
Meanwhile, the association has expressed its discontentment on the failure on the part of the government to protect the Constitutional rights of women by not implementing the reservation of women but also denying them (women) the right to participate in political process for women empowerment.
“As the present reservation process has been adopted for uplift of a weaker section of the society”, PMA hoped the government would look into the genuine demand of the women and implement the much awaited Act at the earliest.
