The Nagaland University Teachers Association, Kohima (NUTAK), Post Graduate Students Union, Kohima (PGSUK) and Non-Teaching Staff Association, Kohima (NUNTSAK) vehemently opposed the move of Dr. P.H. Naik to return to the university as Registrar.
“Such a tainted person, who has no concern for the well being of the university, does not deserve a place in the University” stated a memorandum submitted to Vice Chancellor & Chairman, Executive Council Nagaland University, signed by Prof. G. T. Thong, President, NUTAK, Khotuo Soukhrie, Vice President NUNSTA Kohima and Kelehol Tase, President PGSUK.
The three sister organizations also condemned the contents of his resignation letter to the Secretary, MHRD dated 19.11.2010, wherein he made allegations against various sections of the University and also others. “We cannot expect any good from a person who has such negative attitude towards the people for whom he should be working” it stated.
Further the three sister organizations requested the Vice Chancellor NU to ensure that Dr. P.H. Naik does not rejoin the university but rather take disciplinary action against him for the misdeeds he has committed.
NUTA demands clarification from NU registrar
Nagaland University Teachers Association (NUTA) has demanded a public clarification from registrar of Nagaland University Dr. P. H. Naik over his false allegations and defamatory statements contained in the letter to the secretary, MHRD, within one week.
Nagaland University Teachers Association while condemning the statements on the teaching community and others by Dr. P.H. Naik in his letter to Secretary, MHRD on November 19, 2010 which was published in local dailies, the association resolved not to allow Dr. P.H. Naik to return to the Nagaland University.
According to central executive council NUTA, the registrar had submitted his resignation which was not accepted by executive council and an inquiry had been constituted against him on serious allegations of corruption. Nagaland University Teachers Association members of central executive council in a press release stated the inquiry report has to be tabled before the executive council for their decision and till such time, the question of Dr. P. H. Naik assuming the charge of registrar does not arise.
Further, central executive council NUTA said it was highly questionable that he joined another university in Lucknow without any clearance from Nagaland University while he was under an official inquiry, which was in serious violation of service rules.
Nagaland University Teachers Association also noted that Dr. P.H.Naik had told the leaders of the Association that he had resigned due to continuous victimization and harassment by Prof. K. Kannan and not otherwise.
