Chakhesang Mothers Association, (CMA) the apex body of all Chakhesang Women has appealed the authority in-charge to implement the women’s reservation bill passed by government of Nagaland vide Nagaland Municipal Act, 2001 in the year 2006.
CMA reiterated that it would continue to stand in solidarity with the Naga women in voicing out concern for early implementation of the Act so as to provide women greater participation in the policy making bodies of the society.
CMA president Kuthozulu Rose and secretary Nungotsolu Kezoin stated the Indian Constitution guarantees equal rights for both sexes and entitles women to enjoying economic, social and cultural and political rights on equal footing with men, and appealed to the authority in-charge to implement the Act without delay. CMA also urged all the right thinking citizens to respect women’s legal and human rights at all cost and in the greater interest of the society.
