Chiechama Students’ Union (CSU) has expressed its resentment on the education department for showing apathy towards government schools in Chiechama village.
CSU president Vizosielie Rüpreo and tribunal Keduoneizo Zumvü said per the year plan, CSU visited Govt. High School Chiechama on July 15 and found that the head of institution and many teaching staff/non teaching staff absent wherein, only three teachers with assistant headmistress and a grade IV staff were running the institution. CSU appreciated the state government for providing free education at the government schools in Chiechama, but regretted that most of the good teachers were irregular and not sincere in their duties, warning it would take its own course of action.
Taking strong exception of HSLC results of Govt. High School Chiechama, CSU said the department should take the responsibility and produce a chart on how the institution has produced in the last seven years, 20 students passed and 107 detained out of the 127 students. CSU said after consulting with the village council appointed a community teacher in GHS Chiechama for the betterment and progress of the students, but was rejected by the head of the institution on grounds that he would not entertain unless approved by the director of school education.
The union said it had applied for community teacher to be sponsored by CSU for the current academic session to education director in March last where the matter is still pending With its aim to fight for the welfare and progress of student’s community, CSU conducted a free coaching class for GHS students in every subject for classes 9 and 10 starting from July 18. CSU said it would provide free tuition to all GPS students starting from the month of August this year.
CSU while appreciating sincere and dedicated teachers, also sought transfer and replacement of those “irregular” ones sating it would be carrying out agitation if the department fails to address their grievances and would not tolerate if any political party, party worker, individual, society or under any political pressure tries to negotiate the rights of students.
