School of Engineering and Technology Management (SETAM) Engineering Students Council (SESC) has appealed the authority to fulfill its demand before the new semester begins in August. SESC president, Menyanwongto stated that as per the memorandum submitted to the vice chancellor, Nagaland University on September 25, 2010, students called for an agitation as their demands remained unfulfilled.
Further SESC said the agitation in SETAM which commenced on February 7 last was called off on February 8 based on the assurance that the eight point resolution would be fulfilled before the end of the semester in June.
As such, the resolution taken up in a meeting held on February 8 between the members of SESC and Dr. R.C. Nayak, dean of SASARD representing Vice Chancellor NU, along with Prof. D.P Sharma, dean of SETAM, Er. Chenlip Yakha Konyak, student welfare in charge, SETAM and Dr. V. Sharan, academic in-charge of SETAM, revealed SESC and again taken up during a meeting held on February 9 between the members of the student council and Dr. Tongpang Ao, director, college development NU and Dr. Temjen, deputy librarian, NU.
With regard to review of current fees structure, which is yet to be fulfilled, SECS said as per the meeting resolution, students would resort to its own course of action by boycotting the admission for the current semester till the fees were reviewed, and urged the dean of SETAM to expedite the revised fee without any hindrance in order not affect the academic session of students.
