CFMG okayed escort, says DGP
Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland, K Kire, IPS, has admitted that there was some confusion as to how to deal with either of the split factions-GPRN/NSCN and NSCN/GPRN (Khaplang).
Speaking to NEPS, Kire the new faction that had come into being occupies Khehoi, which is a designated camp of the NSCN (K)
Asked as to what was the stand of the government of India vis-à-vis the split group, Kire replied : “Nobody knows the status of this new group,” Kire disclosed. “The GOI has not spelled out which faction is recognized.”
Asked if he foresaw any unwanted situation between the two factions, the DGP replied in the affirmative. However he said police was fully prepared to deal with any such eventuality. Kire also asserted that police did not differentiate between any faction or groups while when it involved enforcement of the law against offences or crimes committed by any one. Asked about allegations by the NSCN (K) that police provided escort to GPRN/NSCN from Khehoi to Zunheboto, Kire said police had only followed instructions from the chairman of the Cease Fire Monitoring Group (CFMG)
He said the GPRN/NSCN had requested the chairman CFMG for police escort and therefore they were provided escort as per the CFMG chairman’s instructions.
He also said police had no knowledge that N.Kitovi Zhimomi(GPRN/NSCN) had moved around in various districts or picked up Khole from Mon.
