NSF volunteers continued to stage demonstration for the second consecutive day at the office of chief engineer (power), Kohima against “backdoor appointments” in the department of power Thursday barring entry of employees to the office building. There was however no response from the government, sources from the NSF said, adding the federation would intensify agitation. NSF volunteers included members from various tribal units and students from various colleges. The executives of the NSF, who were present at the premises of CE’s office, said so far there has been no response from the government. Stating that department officials expressed their inability to address the issue, the NSF volunteers said they would continue to stage demonstration until competent authority addressed their demands and instigate steps for redressal. The volunteers also said they would make every effort to flush out “illegal appointment practices” so educated Naga youths be offered ample opportunity to compete in “authorized platform.” Meanwhile, it was reported that the power minister, who is out of station presently, is expected to return to Kohima Thursday.
