Election commission will be conducting the election of Dimapur Gorkha Union (DGU) on July 30, 10am onwards, as per decision taken by election commission on July 18.
As per the Constitution amended in the general meeting of DGU on May 15, only DGU units and affiliated/recognized frontal organizations under DGU can have its members in the central executive council (CEC) possessing contesting and voting rights, while Gorkha students union Dimapur would only have voting rights.
Election Commission in this regard informed that forms for CEC membership was issued only to units/frontal organizations as per the official copy received by the election commission from the Dimapur Gorkha Union.
It further notified that after the declaration of the election and in the transitional period, the election commission would have nothing to do with any new affiliations/recognitions for any of the existing units or the frontal organizations which were not included in the official list submitted by Dimapur Gorkha Union to the Commission.
The Commission further notified saying it would not allow any manipulation whatsoever during the course of the election and requested all units, affiliated/recognized frontal organizations and general public to co-operate with the Commission to carry out the election in a free, fare and peaceful manner.
