Nagaland Pollution Control Board (NPCB) has invited public to give opinions and complaints regarding release of septic tanks into drains.
Nagaland Pollution Control Board stated that some households let off their septic tanks directly into the drains and in some cases, people construct toilet on top of drains/nullahs and the faecal matter directly let off into drains thus leading to air pollution.
Nagaland Pollution Control Board member secretary Rusovil John, in a press release stated that in the hill stations, the effluent flow from the drains to the natural streams which are often utilized by people living in the lower locations increase the possible spread of waterborne diseases.
In this connection, public have been informed to lodge complaints, share experiences and views on how best this problem could be taken care of.
