Manipur Police revealed the fifth person, Anthony who was killed in the Sangakpham Bazar blast on August 1, was the Imphal town commander of the NSCN (I-M).
Upon interrogating a cadre of the NSCN (I-M) identified as Sekho Dingthoi Nelson Chiru son of late SD Waonpi Chiru of Charoi Khullen village, Churachandpur district; police said it was revealed that Anthony was the Imphal town commander of the outfit.
Sekho was arrested by a team of Imphal West police commandos on Friday from Sangaiporou crossing along the Tidim road while conducting frisking operation based on specific information.
Further, police alleged that Sekho as an active member of the NSCN (I-M), along with his brother-in-law Dijonglung @ Ajin Kamei of Sadu Khoiroi used to help NSCN (I-M) cadres extort money in Imphal town under the direction of Anthony.
Sekho was produced before the court of Imphal West Chief Judicial Magistrate on Saturday and remanded by police for six days (till August 11).
However, police said they needed more time (remand) from the court to extract more information from Sekho about the August 1 blast and to probe into the matter thoroughly.
