Federal Government of Nagaland (FGN) in a press statement claimed that the photo of its ‘kilonser’ flashed in local newspapers was in fact the photo of Naga Army group of 33rd roster, central guards that had appeared in the 2010, NNC calendar and that the photo published did not match the person but used “only to confuse readers”.
A press statement issued by P. Joshua, assistant secretary ministry of rali wali, FGN alleged that such attempts was not uncommon but practiced by India to brand most Naga leaders as wanted.
It described the reports as “blatant lies and illogical accusations” against NNC leaders and attempts to implicate and destroy the “good image” of the FGN, that “established and sanctified by Naga people.”
FGN was reacting to reports of the attempted robbery at gunpoint in the office room of the DDO, directorate health and family welfare department on April 9, 2011 and subsequent reports that the department had again faced the same threat on August 4, 2011.
FGN said it was aware of the people’s plight and sufferings “due to unlawful extortions, intimidations, threats” and even killing of innocent public and blamed it on “henchmen and agents of enemy India.”
FGN asserted that its “Naga National Workers” will continue to move and work freely “without fear in our Homeland Nagaland” and warned that those who inflict any harm against the physical well being of its members or personal security shall personally face the consequence.
FGN dy. kilonser clarifies
Meanwhile V. Phutoi Zhimomi, dy. kilonser natural resources-cum-finance secretary FGN, has expressed shock at being named in the wanted notice issued by North P.S. Kohima in connection with the ‘medical directorate intimidation case’.
Phutoi denied having ever known, talked to or even phoned the DDO of the directorate. He claimed that facts could be confirmed with the police who made inquiries with the DDO. Phutoi also denied having ordered the intimidation or threat on the DDO’s life.
He admitted that as finance secretary of the FGN, he only discharged his duties “in requesting financial assistance from various departments and even individuals, well wishers for the national cause.”
He claimed that such requests were made through authorization letters to bearers and in conformity with the FGN directives, no threats or intimidations “have ever been resorted to.”
Claiming that he was innocent of the charges, Phutoi described the police notice as “absurd”.
