Raj Shekhar Mahato A robbery that took place in a house at Diphupar village on the night of July 12 exposed the vulnerability of unwary homes desperate for drivers and even domestic hands.
Sources said the robbery was an ‘inside job’ planned and executed by the driver,who involved some of the inmates of the house. Following investigation, the main accused Raj Shekar Mahato was taken to custody. Interestingly, it was learnt that the accused Raj Shekhar Mahato used to give his name as ‘Hanji Yimchunger’.
It was also learnt that the accused provided police his name as Raj Shekhar Mahato, son of late Maheshi Mahato of Dirpar village, Madhupani district, Bihar. Sources said when attempts were made to trace the antecedents, it was found that there is no village in Bihar by the name of Dirpar.
According to sources, the accused Raj Shekhar alias ‘Hanji Yimchunger’ was sacked from service by a politician for misbehaving and molesting girls. The sources also claimed that Raj Shekhar Mahato alias Hanji Yimchunger, used to hang around with some dubious characters in Dimapur and was well known in such circles. In the case involving the July 12 robbery, it has now come to light that one minor boy who was looked after by the couple, used to be sexually molested by Mahato after he used to be made drunk with alcohol.
It was stated that the minor boy was also threatened by the accused against spilling the beans. The minor boy, who has been sent to a juvenile home, was recently interviewed by one NGO whose members visited the juvenile home recently.
Members of the NGO disclosed that the minor boy had given an account of how he used to be sexually molested by Mahato.
It was also alleged that the sexual molestation of the minor had not been framed in the FIR and that it was finally done only through a second FIR.That means the accused has to also be charged with sexual molestation on a minor. The case has to open the eyes of public on hiring drivers or domestic hands without first ascertaining their antecedents.The accused, it was learnt, had also threatened to kill the elderly couple and both are living with dread and fear.
Investigation into the facts about Raj Shekhar alias ‘Hanji’ would unravel whether he has any past criminal background or is a wanted fugitive on the run.
