Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio and the state government have welcomed the “historic meetings” of the leaders of various underground groups at Dimapur which resulted in the signing of a joint statement August 22.
The CMO, in a communiqué released Tuesday, said the statement (of the top leaders of Naga groups) which declared leaders have “met in the spirit of love, respect and understanding and have agreed to strengthen and broaden the peace process based on uniqueness of Naga history”, deserved to be lauded by all sections as it was a move in the right direction in “Naga society’s quest for permanent peace.”
Reiterating its commitment to play the role of “active facilitator in the peace process”, the state government urged upon all sections to come together under a spirit of reconciliation and work towards unity and oneness of Naga society so that they could achieve an “honorable solution through a negotiated political dialogue.”
WSKH lauds Naga leaders
Meanwhile, the Western Sumi Kukami Hoho (WSKH) has “highly” appreciated the top Naga leaders, who took part at the highest level meeting, August 20 to take the process of Naga reconciliation further for historical and political rights of Nagas people.
The WSKH, in a joint statement issued by its president Apeto Assumi and general secretary Jacob Zhimomi, lauded the step taken by the leaders at the meeting to forgive each other and leave behind their past mistakes. With regard to this, the WSKH further praised FNR for it effort in bring the process of reconciliation this far.
“The hoho fully supports the pledge of Naga leaders as it is the heartfelt desire of every single Naga to see a day when all Naga group would once and for all reconcile with each other, they said.
The hoho also said that all section of Naga society should praise of the pledge of the Naga leaders. It said any individual or group should not be allowed to sabotage the progress of the reconciliation process.
The WSKH prayed Naga leaders’ pledged to forgive each other was not followed in words and writing alone but be put into action also.
