Dmu administration, DDCF as agents of change in society

Deputy commissioner Dimapur Hushili Sema said Dimapur administration along with Dimapur District Citizens’ Forum (DDCF) would make Dimapur a healthy and safe place to live in where children, girls, women and business community can carry their job without fear or threat.

Speaking as the chief guest at the inaugural function of DDCF office in OC-8 Naga Shopping Arcade, Dimapur on Thursday, Hushili said Dimapur was a mini India where people from various tribes and communities live together and promote each other’s culture, tradition and customary habits.
She lauded the DDCF for their priority to build up peace and harmony among the people residing together in Dimapur, and said the efforts put forth by the Forum to preserve the ancestral heritage, age old values and identity of Dimapur district would be successful and never go in vain.

Further lauding the Forum which comprises of all elderly and experienced citizens from Dimapur, DC said the administration would need their support and advice while planning to carry forward for the betterment of the citizens and development of Dimapur district.
She also urged DDCF and citizens of Dimapur to assist the administration in whatever possible ways in making the Dimapur a peaceful and developed district in state.

Also speaking on the occasion, MLA and former chief minister of Nagaland, K.L. Chishi said Dimapur once a rejected and dejected place in Nagaland, has now become an important place to live in.
“Dimapur has become the most attractive place for all and even people from other parts of the country thrive and grow well here”, said Chishi.
Highlighting on the formation of the Forum, Chishi said DDCF came into being in May 25, 2010 amid the proposal to change the name of Dimapur.

DDCF’s intention was not to hurt or injure anyone’s sentiment but rather to late people live together and march forward towards the process of developing and protecting humanity and the history of Dimapur district.
He further said this concept or proposal to change the name would remove the historical values of Dimapur and urged all to live together and appreciate the historical values of Nagaland, particularly Dimapur.

“Nagaland cannot be divided and all should realize their sense of responsibilities”, Chishi said.
He also appealed to all the citizens of Dimapur to extend their cooperation to DDCF and promote the welfare of the state.
Delivering the keynote address, president DDCF Hokiye Yepthomi said for the general welfare and betterment of the citizens of Dimapur district, DDCF was formed to infuse social awareness, environmental and living conditions and to promote fraternal relationship, with a view to protect and secure unity amongst various tribes, communities and to preserve the rights to properties and maintain harmonious coexistence.
He also said the forum was committed to give its fullest cooperation to administration, business sectors and its associations and the community organizations for the welfare of the citizens of Dimapur district.

Further in a bid to clear doubts related to the formation of DDCF, Hokiye said the Forum was not for a particular person, community or a tribe but for the people of Dimapur and also appealed all to join hands and make Dimapur a better place to live in.

The inaugural function was attended by MLA K Hollohon, SDO (C) Dimapur H. Atokhe Aye, general secretary Naga Council Ntsemo Ngullie, PS to MLA Hewoto, GBs, and representatives from various organizations, civil societies, president Muslim Council Dimapur A. Hannan Tapadar, tribal and community leaders and others.
