Office of the Superintending Engineer (Elect) Dimapur Electrical Circle along with Chumukedima Town Council conducted a surprise raid on power theft under Chumukedima Electrical Division on August 22. The team during the surprise checking detected many illegal electricity connections. In a press release Er. G Chishi superintending engineer (elect) Dimapur electrical circle stated all illegal or unauthorized connections were removed and materials seized besides issuing a stern warning to the illegal electricity consumers.
He however stated that one staff on official duty was threatened with dire consequences by a resident of ward no. 6 and re-hooked the illegal connection, for which an FIR was lodged at Diphupar police station against the offender on August 25. The offender was arrested and the case forwarded to judicial court for further course of action, added Er. G Chishi. The department has therefore appealed to all those illegal/unauthorized electricity consumers to desist from such illegal activities, failing which defaulters would be penalized as per Indian Electricity Act.
