Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) Nagaland state branch Kohima organized a programme to raise fund for the earthquake victims of Sikkim.
Induction of new IRCS volunteers was also held during the programme.

At a brief function at IRCS Kohima conference hall, Zakie Kire general secretary IRCS Nagaland while welcoming and encouraging the new volunteers said it may be embarrassing for them to ask for donation, but they would be blessed in return as they were doing it for a noble cause. “The amount collected may not be much but it shows the love and concern for the needy and distressed people in Sikkim”, Zakie said.

Dr. Zinyü one of the senior most founding members of IRCS Nagaland also spoke at the function. Citing his own experience, he said while Japan was hit by Tsunami, he and his team sought help even from “underground people” as Red Cross Society has no boundary. He also encouraged the volunteers not to be ashamed while working for a purposeful task. Helping and showing concern for the needy people will be definitely receiving blessing from God, he added.

Around 20 volunteers turned up and were sent to different places for collecting donation for the victims of Sikkim earthquake where hundreds died and thousand rendered homeless on Sunday last.
