Customary court at Phuhgi village

Deputy Commissioner, Phek Mikha Lomi while inaugurating ‘Khwuhu’ (Customary Open Court) at Phuhgimi village on September 30 said, forefathers had constructed courts and  many cases of dispute were settled like convicted criminal activities and other important events related to village community.

He said such monuments of practice should be preserved in order to impart fear in minds of the villagers/ people and should take it as an example to stop anti-social menace factor as the forefather had practiced.

“Lots of funds for development activities are provided to the villages in order to encourage people to live in the village,” he said and called upon the villagers to use fund judiciously and make better place to live in.

He also said that as a Christian, one should follow Christian ethics by maintaining truthfulness, honesty, respect to one another and work loving culture.

DRDA project director Shuyung Phom and Art & Culture Deputy Director Vevoi Sapu also spoke. DC was accompanied by ADC Chozuba Temsunaro, ADC Phek Bodeno, SDO (C) Phek Razouvolie Dozo, additional SP Phek, Khrusa Keyho, DCO (Culture) Yeveyi Sapu and SDO (R&B) Nietsoneyi and IPR officials.

The function was chaired by its VDB Secretary, Razuve Sapu while Khatsoi pastor Baptist Church pronounced invocation prayer. Welcome note by VCC Yekhwuyi and a brief introduction of traditional background was proposed by ex-VCC Zane-o, vote of thanks head GB Saneyi and benediction Thuyepoyi, Pastor AGC.
