A documentary on unique cultural traditions of Mangmetong village titled ‘The Warrior Village Mangmetong’, produced and directed by N. Imti Imchen has been launched on Saturday at Hotel Saramati conference hall, Dimapur by president of Rotary Club Dimapur, Akokla Lucy.

Speaking at the launching programme, N. Imti Imchen said many youngsters chose to embrace western culture thus putting the Naga folklores, customs, and traditional implements on the verge of extinction. He further added that the documentary was an attempt to neutralize the threat posed by western culture by capturing the culture, tradition and heritage of Mangmetong village visually, which he said would not only help in preserving the culture but also reintroduce it to the present and future generation.

Imti expressed gratitude for the support, help and advice rendered by Mangmetong village council, Mangmetong students’ union and elders around the state while making the documentary, and also Akokla Lucy for gracing the programme.

Gracing the occasion as chief guest, Akokla Lucy said the documentary was a great achievement and a huge contribution to Mangmetong villagers which will be imprinted in the minds of the upcoming generation. With the advancement in technology in this 21st Century many people are forgetting about their ancestry and their rich cultural tradition, said Akokla and believed this documentary would remind the youth of their roots and also preserve their rich cultural legacy.
Meanwhile, the launching programme was also attended by members from Rotary Club Dimapur and other invitees.
