Mishilimi Village Council (MVC) and Mishilimi Students Union (MSU) in a letter to the department of the health and family welfare has highlighted their grievances concerning negligent management at the Community Health Centre (CHC) at Pughoboto.
In a press statement, MVC and MSU said on December 6, one person from Mishilimi village was gravely wounded due to an accidental firing while hunting was taken to CHC, Pughoboto and was nursed by nurses and other staff available as there was not even a single doctor in station.
After dressing the victim’s wound, he was sent to Kohima. However, on the way, due to “improper dressing”, the patient nearly died as he had lost a good amount of blood, added the organizations. MVC and MSU stated that CHC, Pughoboto was supposed to be manned by four doctors, but most of the time the hospital was run by nurses and other staff.
Stating “negligence and lackadaisical attitude” of the doctors cannot continue at the cost of the helpless public, MVC and MSU urged the competent authority to look into the genuine grievances of the people of the area at the earliest.
