To ensure transparency in recruitments and appointments in various government departments, the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF), in collaboration with the state Administrative Training Institute (ATI), is undertaking a project on Right to Information (RTI) Act – a Centrally-sponsored programme and being implemented through ATI.

The federation, in a statement issued by its president Kelhouneizo Yhome, said hence, in view of the project, it was inquiring two “specific queries” from all government departments.

The NSF said one query was related to appointments made in the last two years at various levels in departments and the mode of recruitment – whether it was through the aegis of NPSC or through proper interviews, etc.

The second question seeks the information on the incumbency list of government employees at various levels including vacant posts. The date of birth of the incumbents would also be sought, the NSF release added.

Asserting that by using computerized database it was possible to project the vacancies arising out of retirements on monthly, yearly basis or for any other period of time, the NSF said accordingly the details of the questions posed were in the following manner:
Furnish details of appointments from Oct. 31, 2009-Dec. 31, 2011

1. Name of the Post with Grade (I, II, III)
2. Name of the Incumbent
3. Letter Number and Date of Appointment
4. Date of joining the Service
5. Date on which Advertisement was issued with the Name of the Daily/Journal and Copy of Advertisement
6. Mode of Appointment
Furnish the following details including District Officers
1. Name of the Sanctioned Post with Grade (I, II, III)
2. Name of the Incumbent (Indicate the vacant Post)
3. Date of Birth
4. Date of joining the Service
5. Mode of Appointment

In the light of the above statements, the NSF urged all the departments to cooperate and coordinate with the federation in its endeavour so to instill transparency and fairness in recruitments and appointments in government departments.

The NSF affirmed that it would “seriously work into this factor” and would “not hesitate to initiate” own course of action if any departments failed to oblige with the matter.
