Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio Tuesday condoled the death of S.Showuba Yimchunger, a retired head Dobashi (Hd.DB), who passed away January 9 at Dimapur after brief illness.
He was 84. In his condolence message, the chief minister Rio described late S.Showuba Yimchunger as “a highly respected leader and a well known personality”, and said Yimchunger shall be remembered by the people of Shamatore for the pioneering role he played in establishment of Shamatore headquarters. S.Showuba Yimchunger joined government service as DB in 1952 and retired as head DB in the year 1988.
Later, he was appointed as head GB of Shamatore town, a position he held until his death. “In his untimely death, the Yimchunger people in particular and the Nagas in general have indeed lost a true leader and a person well known for his socially oriented works and one who always stood for the cause of the people,” said Rio. Further, the chief minister conveyed “deepest condolences” to the members of the bereaved family and prayed to God the Almighty to grant them solace and comfort.
