Zeliangrong Youth Front (ZYF) has fervently appealed to all Zeliangrong people living in about “30 Assembly constituencies out of 60” in Manipur not to “misuse” their rights to vote but to exercise it “purposefully, rightfully, effectively and judiciously” for peace, progress and development of Zeliangrong areas in the forthcoming 10th Legislative Assembly poll schedule for January 28.

A press statement issued by ZYF (AMN) president, Titus Kamei Tuesday said it was time for Zeliangrong people to realize that they were the “deciding factor” in many constituencies in the valley as well as hills districts of Manipur.

The front therefore appealed to all to exercise their rights for change and not let themselves be influenced by “false promises”, said the press release. While stating valuable vote should not go wasted, ZYF asserted that “wrong choice or wrong decision” while voting would result in “impediments to progress”.

The union has asked the people to choose right candidates and political parties having “clear manifestos of concrete policy” for transformation, development and safeguarding the interests of “traditional rights and practices” of Zeliangrong people. It also mentioned that ZYF was making this appeal “not a political organization” or “a political platform” inclined or affiliated to any political parties.
