Additional chief secretary and finance commissioner Toshi Aier IAS urged account officers under various departments to utilize money judiciously and lauded the Nagaland finance & accounts service Association’s (NF&ASA) covering 66 departments in the state for the activities and service rendered to the people.
Speaking as the chief guest at the two-day 13th general conference of NF&ASA on Thursday at the conference hall of directorate of treasuries & accounts under the theme ‘Introspection on responsibilities as a finance officer’, Toshi advised the account officers to communicate to bridge the gap between themselves and also for smooth functioning of the department.
Pointing out on shortage of expertise in the state’s finance account department, the chief guest urged the gathering to be upright, hard working while discharging their duties, adding the department has sent 37 persons to Shillong to receive training in finance accounting.
He also disclosed that more posts in the finance account section would be created as per the demand and requirement of the department.
Director of treasuries and accounts, Z. Mesen speaking at the gathering said many improvement and changes have been made in the accounting section after the formation of the association.
To meet the challenges of the fast changing technology and computerization, the director encouraged the gathering to do away with conventional method of working and compete with other states.
Earlier, B.K. Rasaily executive member said a prayer, Shivito Wotsa vice president NF&ASA chaired the meeting, K. Tiayanger president NF&ASA delivered the presidential address.
The association members from different districts attended the programme.
Retired officers of the association were acknowledged with certificates by the association.
There are 187 members in the association, informed K. Tiayanger during the inaugural session.
On the second day, R.C. Acharjee financial advisor to the govt. of Nagaland would present a presentation on “overview of state finances” and Y. Kikheto Sema IAS, additional secretary to the Govt. of Nagaland finance department (budget) would present ‘Budget: expenditure control & monitoring’ followed by interaction and discussion.
