Rest House Ward Union Kiphire (RHWUK) on May 18 visited Tekhaki water source led by its chairman, Tsathrise, Mark Lisemong, advisor secretary, divisional unit, NPF, elders and executive members.

According to a press release issued by RHWUK press secretary, Benjungtemsu Sangtam, the members discovered that the water source was not fit for human consumption as the reservoir was devoid of any maintenance by the department in-charge for the past many years.

The visiting members also discovered the pipes were rusted with seepage problems due to the negligence of the department, and that there was no fence around the main reservoir on the verge of collapsing due to erosion.

Further, the ward members, elders and the five consumer wards queried as to why the rights of the consumers were neglected and why the department was not sanctioning any amount to maintain the water reservoir.

Meanwhile, the ward members demanded the department to justify the mentioned grievances so that the citizens are not infected with water born diseases.
