Continuing its stand to curb all taxation by organizations, groups, underground factions etc. in all educational institutions, NSF and ENSF delegation reportedly met NSCN (I-M) leaders at Hebron camp Monday afternoon.
An eight member delegation– 5 members from the NSF led by its president Kelhouneizo Yhome and three members of ENSF led by president Hawang T. Wangsha reportedly met NSCN (I-M) steering committee members. It was learn that the delegation is also scheduled to meet GPRN/NSCN leaders at Kehoi camp Tuesday at around 7 a.m.
NSF president, Kelhouneizo Yhome when contacted confirmed that two organizations met NSCN (I-M) members. He however said “we had a hard time” but refused to comment on the outcome of the meeting stating that the two organizations would give its final report only after meeting with different factions.
He also revealed that the team met all the members of the steering committee and had a thorough discussion on the issue.
It maybe noted that NSF and ENSF taking cognizance of complaints on taxation demands by various organizations on educational institutions held a joint meeting on June 9 wherein it decided to ban all forms of taxation.
Earlier, in a joint press conference Yhome said “we’ve decided to ban all taxation on educational institution” and revealed that the two apex student organizations would be undertaking a mission to visit Hebron and Khehoi camps on June 18 next.
The delegation would then proceed to Tuensang and further head for Noklak to meet NNC (Non Accordist) members June 20. The same delegation would meet NSCN (K) in Mon on June 21.
The student bodies also revealed that the different factions/groups have been imposing 20 to 25% of the salary of every teacher from different institutions as a yearly tax, apart from separate tax on the institutions– be it government-run or private institutions, which it said was directly affecting the students’ community.
