Three-room at Government Primary School (GPS) officers’ hill (Thegabakha) Kohima was inaugurated by Theyievilie Suohumvü assistant district co-ordinator SSA in the presence of school staff and colony leaders on Friday.
Theyievilie in his address as a special guest reminded the gathering that SSA which was the national flagship programme has 4 goals namely to provide assets facility, retention of the students till elementary (class 8) level, to bridge gender & social category gap and to provide quality education.
He said in Naga society the spirit of community was very high as a result communitisation act came into being to improve and upgrade the public institution. He asked ward education committee (WEC) to manage and supervise the school administration to ensure good academic result for the students.
Theyievilie requested the gathering to practice community participation and to have sense of ownership and belongingness to run the institution smoothly. He also highlighted the RTE Act to be implemented soon.
Earlier, Toshi Imchen pastor Ao CRC said the dedicatory prayer, welcome address by Kenneth educationist WEC, special songs by GPS students, school report by Mini Yhoshü teacher in-charge, building committee report by Kodonyi Koza convenor construction committee WEC and vote of thanks was proposed by Yahamo Yanthan VC OHCC.
It may be mentioned that the Government Primary School has 109 students up to class 5 with 9 teachers. The cost of 3 room extension came upto Rs 4.3 lakh and around 1.7 lakh was contributed by the colony denizens to complete the construction.
