In a significant development, the Division Bench of Gauhati High Court has dismissed the writ petition filed by incumbent Dimapur Municipal Council (DMC) CEO Imtirenla Jamir against her transfer order. Following this, the state government Friday directed the CEO designate Orenthung Lotha to take charge as the DMC CEO.
The order by department of personnel & administrative reforms (personnel ‘A’ branch), a copy of which was made available to Nagaland Post stated that Imtirenla Jamir’s petition was filed against the transfer order PAR-4/24/2009(CSB) dated May 25 and that the same was subsequently dismissed by the court.
Following this, the order directed Orenthung Lotha to take charge as DMC CEO immediately and confirm his compliance. A copy of the order signed by principal secretary to the government of Nagaland, C.J. Ponraj, has also been forwarded to the incumbent CEO, Imtirenla Jamir for compliance. The copies of the same order have been sent to the commissioner and secretary to the chief minister and the state chief secretary for information.
It may be mentioned that DMC CEO designate Orenthung Lotha had on June 1 alleged that that incumbent DMC, CEO was reluctant to hand over the charge despite government order directing to complete handing and taking over on or before May 31. He had then requested the authority to issue necessary direction to enable the office of the CEO DMC to function smoothly.
The next day Imtirenla Jamir while refuting the claims made by new DMC CEO, clarified that she applied for a 10-day earned leave from May 31 to June 8 which was granted by the government on May 30.
