Secretary urban Neihu C. Thur on Thursday said Nagas needed to revive the forgotten virtues and qualities of forefathers who were hardworking, simple living warrior and honest.
He said, “Our forefathers were known for their honesty who ate with sweat of their brows.”
He was addressing the students at the 33rd foundation day of All Nagaland college students’ union (ANCSU) as the chief guest at Naga solidarity park Kohima.
Neihu advised students to develop work culture as in the time of the forefathers to reach a higher level.
He requested ANCSU to play a vital role where around 40 thousand students are studying in colleges in Nagaland, and reminded that ANCSU on attaining 33 years should be able to stand on its own with better plan and determination to move forward.
He said the state’s gross domestic product was around 12 thousand crores from various sources but 80% go outside the state and hardly 20% are retained.
Therefore, he encouraged educated youth to opt for entrepreneurship in various fields in the state as this way, money could be circulated within the state.
He asked the educated students to “seriously introspect” the present condition of the state by citing that the state spends Rs. 6, 600 crores yearly to sustain governance and other activities of the state while it generates only 400 crores as revenue i.e. 36% while 64% comes from the Govt. of India.
Kelhouneizo Yhome president NSF in his address said it was time to revamp the education system in the state especially NU for the future generation, and lauded ANCSU for its contribution towards the student’s community and NSF.
Vilhousielie in his presidential address said over the years. ANCSU have been rendering remarkable services to the college students as well as Nagas.
Zheito Chophy, tribunals general ANCSU advised the student community to be prepared to meet the challenges ahead.
Expressing his regret that Nagas were divided and failed in all areas, he asked the student community like ANCSU to play a vital role in promoting unity and reconciliation among Nagas.

ANCSU led the programme, special songs were presented by Livika Swu and Seyievinuo Chüzho and vote of thanks was proposed by Kivigho K. Yeputhomi GS ANCSU.
