Relief materials for Thangthure landslide victims

A team of 59 A/C Sitimi-Seyochung Naga People’s Front (NPF) led by Tsathrise Sangtam President 59 A/C NPF paid a visit to Thangthure landslide area on Friday.

Delivering a short speech at the Council Hall, Tsathrise Sangtam comforted the victims of the landslide at the village which occurred on the night of July 29, saying, “It is very unfortunate not only to your village but to all of us,”
Tsathrise also assured the victims of extending help when needed.

Thungthure village Council also expressed gratitude to NPF 59 A/C for visiting the spot and for donating 50 bags of rice and a cash of Rs.20000 to the victims.

It may be mentioned that on July 29, five houses were washed away by mudslide at Thangthure village under Seyochung area of Kiphire district.

More than 100 graveyard, 30 houses, granaries, paddy fields and fishery ponds were also washed away by landslide some years back.  The landslide zone is situated within the village and villagers fear that at least 50 to 60 households woul dbe washed away if disaster strikes again.

Earlier, the villagers led by Pastor of Thangthure Baptist Church, Council Members and GBs accorded a warm welcome to the visiting team.
