One GPRN/NSCN cadre identified as ‘Capt.’ Shekugha Zhimo son of Kikheto Zhimo of Ghukiye Village, Zunheboto was shot at by an unidentified gunman in the heart of Zunheboto town, New colony area Monday afternoon. He however, escaped with bullet injury.
Sources said that Shekugha was inside a grocery shop when the assailant attacked him. He was shot twice at point blank range, however, one bullet missed and the other pierced through his right cheek and was lodged in his ribs, sources added.
Police and Assam Rifles also rushed to the spot to take stock of the situation.
Police shifted the victim to a nearby hospital for first aid. The victim was later flown to Dimapur by chopper for medical treatment.
