Model citizens make a model village: Neiphiu Rio

Declaring Yimrep village as a “model village”, Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio Wednesday maintained that being a model village did not only mean having good infrastructure but the people should change their attitude and become ‘model citizens’.

Rio returned to the village six years after the village was almost completely burned down in an accidental fire in 2006. He lauded the villagers for successfully rebuilding their village.

Further, appreciating the villagers for showing their ‘discipline and cleanliness’, Rio expressed the hope that people would make use of the role of model village in a proper way.

Rio also sought support and cooperation towards the fulfillment of aspiration of the people in the region. He also called upon villagers to be more united and disciplined in order to take the village forward.

Also, speaking as guest of honor, MP Lok Sabha C.M. Chang acknowledged the contribution and assistance of chief minister during difficult times.

Highlighting some of the achievements of DAN government in 51 Noksen assembly constituency, MP urged upon the people to elect capable and right leader so development reached the area.

Chief minister also unveiled the monolith stone. The unveiling programme was led by YSU general secretary S.I. Ayen.
Chief minister was accompanied by forest minister M.C Konyak, parliamentary secretary Pangnyu Phom besides other dignitaries and government officials.

The declaration programme was compared by Ruth and I. Yanchu while the invocation was pronounced by Joseph pastor YBC.

Welcome address was delivered by former chairman of TTC L. Tochi Chang. Others who spoke at the occasion included YVCU president R. Selichem, Yanghose Head GB Chimonger, former president of KRT Yongkongsipong and ADC Longkhim. Sharyn Chang. Ayen and friends presented a special number.
