In a suspected case of murder, Mokokchung police recovered body of a woman from a stream, below Salangtem Bridge, Salangtem ward here around 12.30 p.m. Tuesday.
The woman, identified as Bendangnaro, aged 27-28, reportedly disappeared Friday last. The body, covered in bamboo leaves, was reportedly discovered by one non-local woman who had gone to pick fodder. Police were then alerted about the discovery.
Later, police retrieved the body and handed over to Imkongliba Memorial Hospital for post-mortem. According to initial reports, her right ear was found chopped off from the base with a sharp weapon, a depression on her left temple, multiple bruises on her arms and a deeper bruise on her waist.
Police have picked up six persons with regard to the case for interrogation but details could were till the filing of this report. Police said investigation was on, adding that the case would be solved soon.
