The VIII Convention of the Nagaland Catholic Women Association (NCWA) was held from January 11-13 at St. Peter’s Church, Kiphire under the theme “In him all peoples will put their hope” Mt 12:21.
The speakers of the convention were Rev.Fr. Mhabemo Mathew, spiritual director, NCWA who spoke on “Women who bring hope to the world” Luke 1:38, Rev. Fr. Benny Varghese, parish priest, St. Peter’s Church, Kiphire on ‘In him all peoples will put their hope’- Mat.12:21, Vilanuo Angela ‘Obey your elders and submit to them’-Heb.13:17, Rita Chaya, advisory member, CBCI for Women on ‘Empowerment of women in the Church and the society’.
A cultural program was held on January 12 with John Tsalise, additional deputy commissioner, Aboi, as he chief guest, where women from different tribes showcased their traditional dances and songs
The main celebrant for the Sunday Holy Eucharistic Service was Most Rev. Dr. James Thoppil, Bishop of Kohima.
The service was also graced by deputy commissioner, Kiphire and his officers. More than 1000 delegates from different parishes/centres attended the Sunday service on January 13.
Meanwhile, the association elected new team of office bearers for the tenure 2013-2015 and was blessed by the Bishop.
The team would be led by Annie Kath Rengma as president, Nyanbeni Elizabeth Lotha as vice president, Kelhoukiebei-ii Florett Angami as general secretary, Mughali Martina Sumi, joint secretary and Rev. Fr. Mhabemo Mathew as the spiritual director.
NCWA thanked all the tribal units, Parishes, regions for their prayer and support and the Parishioners of St. Peter’s Church, Kiphire for the success of the convention.
