Special operation Team (SOT) of DEF Mokokchung Wednesday at 1 a.m. seized huge quantity of assorted IMFL from a truck (NL-07A 4312) while coming from Dimapur via Kohima.
Acting on a tip off, SOT intercepted the truck at Alichen and on frisking the vehicle, recovered around 500 cases of various brand of IMFL from the truck. According to a release issued by L. Impung Chang, SDPO Mokokchung, three persons were arrested.
The arrested were identified as Imkong Longkumer 46 years s/o Imti Longkumer from Ungma village, owner of the illegal consignment, Sumit Ali 31 years s/o Abdul Ali, Doboka village Naogaon Assam, P/A 7th Mile Chumukedima and Shadis Islam 28 years s/o Kitabali of Lohorighat district, Morigaon Assam and P/A Suhoi village Dimapur.
In this connection, a case has been registered at PS II Mokokchung C/No. 002/13 U/S 44 NLTP Act.
The illegal consignment was meticulously covered under nearly 100 bags of cement in order to conceal the liquor.
Meanwhile SP Mokokchung Vikram Khalate has categorically stated that stringent action will be taken against the violators.
