NNC rejects ‘sham’ elections

Naga National Council (NNC) has criticized the state government for holding “sham” elections and asserted that the polls did not “constitute” the settlement of “Indo-Naga” conflict.

This was part of a resolution adopted during a meeting of the NNC central executive council held on January 24 in Kohima.

NNC also resolved that it would continue to practice and adhere to the policy of non-violence in upholding the “democratically mandated plebiscite of 1951” by the Nagas “to continue to stay as an Independent nation.”

During the meeting it was also decided that “Naga Youth Movement” (NYM) would be changed to “Naga Youth Federation” (NYF) hence forth.

NNC said to expedite of filling the vacant posts in the organization, Naga Women Federation (NWF) and Naga Youth Federation (NYF), the meeting decided to entrust the CEC and NNC office bearers to nominate suitable persons for the same in the next meeting.

The meeting was chaired by NNC vice president Eno B. Pashen and recorded by joint secretary Acüyi Vadeo.
