A man in his late 40s, accused of raping two minor girls, died at district hospital here Monday, police sources said Wednesday.
Police suspected that the accused identified as one Kamal died due to internal injuries as he was reportedly apprehended by a group of people and thrashed on January 28 morning before handing over to the police in the afternoon.
On seeing the condition of the accused, police took the accused for treatment but passed away after reaching hospital, police sources said.
The incident reportedly took place January 26, when the accused allegedly took two minors – one 6-year-old and another 8-year-old – to river side at 5th mile.
The matter was reportedly brought to the notice of the parents when the minors were narrating their ordeal to their friends. Police sources said the two minors claimed they were raped by the accused. However, medical tests could not establish that it was a rape case, police sources added.
