Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) which is part of the NPF-led DAN has now focused on fighting the Congress on corruption rather than its pre-alliance move to take on corruption in the state.
The party Monday called on the people to wipe out a corrupt party like Congress from Nagaland while referring to the corruption levels of UPA government at the Centre as “sky high.”
Campaigning for the February 23 assembly elections in Dimapur at Bookmarc conference hall, BJP national general secretary (org) Ramlal also slammed UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for pointing out misuse of funds and corruption in the state by the NPF-led DAN government virtually giving it a clean chit.
While criticizing Sonia Gandhi for her recent remarks, Ramlal said that it was unfair on her part to make a comparison between ten years of DAN and multiple terms of Congress governance adding that the present situation was borne out of faulty corrupt practices of years of Congress rule in the state and centre.
He opined that the AICC president should not refer the funds sanctioned for the state as “her own” as the sanctioned amount was state’s share from the union government.
Ramlal said the BJP acknowledged the fact that most part of Naga political history was “afflicted with complex issues” undermining the pace of all round development. He asserted that BJP “genuinely” wanted peace, progress and prosperity for the state.
He claimed that the performance of the BJP-led NDA government in the centre and BJP ruled states have created a favoruable atmosphere in the country for the party to return back to power in the next general election slated for 2014.
He sought the support of the Naga people to vote for the party’s eleven candidates for the ensuing polls.
