Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) and Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) have convened a joint presidential meeting of all the federating units under two federations on May 1, 2013 at Kohima DUDA Guest House at 11 a.m.

In a joint press release, ENSF president Likhumse Sangtam and NSF president Kelhouneizo Yhome said this was resolved at a joint meeting held April 17, 2013 at NSF office, Kohima in pursuance of the matter with regard to taxation upon the teaching community.

The two federations have directed all the presidents along with two executives to attend the meeting, wherein the matters on “taxation upon educational institution” would be thoroughly deliberated and resolved in the larger interest of the student community.

Stop paying tax till issue resolved
Both the federations have appealed to all the teaching community/responsible authority to restrain from paying tax to any Naga political groups, organizations or individuals until such time the matter was amicably resolved.

Asserting education was the backbone in building the future of the Nagas, the two federations further appealed to all sections of Naga civil society to extend their support in this regards.

“It is also expected from all the Naga political groups, organizations or individuals to honor and respect the stand of the federations in reforming the educational institution and system in all the Naga inhibited areas,” they said.
