On the occasion of World Red Cross Day, state governor Dr. Ashwani Kumar has called for peace and “control of weapons” in the state and throughout the world.

In a message on the eve of World Red Cross Day to be observed on Wednesday, Dr. Ashwani Kumar lauded the “efforts and dedication” of Indian Red Cross Society, Nagaland (IRCSN) in undertaking relief, rehabilitation, first aid training, medical camps and distribution of free medicines to the poor and the needy.

He said that in all these activities, the IRCSN and health & family welfare department have provided free service and that he looked forward to their continued support and cooperation.

“This is the occasion to put on record our appreciation for their efforts and dedication”, said Dr. Ashwani Kumar.

The governor also welcomed the new members who have joined this year and reminded all that selfless service lies at the heart of the Red Cross movement.
