With an objective to encourage students to excel in learning and to acknowledge their achievements, Sumi Officers’ Union Dimapur (SOUD) organized a felicitation programme for Sumi students, within Dimapur district, who secured top positions in the recent declared High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination conducted under Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE).

SOUD president, Dr. Kheshito Zhimo while felicitating the toppers, said they have not only brought laurel to their families but to the whole community and asked them to continue with their hard work.
He also congratulated all the successful HSLC and HSSLC candidates and expressed regret for its inability to facilitate each and every student. He however wished them success in all their endeavours.
Dr. Kheshito also applauded all the successful Sumi candidates who cleared the NPSC examination and welcomed them to the Sumi officers’ family. He also expressed hope that they would cooperate with the union.
Associate pastor, SBCPB, N Suhuto Chishi delivered a sermon on the topic ‘The new Heaven and the new Earth’ from the book of Revelation 21:1-4.
Chishi said the Bible was “full of wonderful promises”; he however felt that the most wonderful promise would be the promise of heaven.
He said that as Christians, believers must aim to be in heaven with God. He said that as humans, people attain great joy when they anticipate anything new but said as Christians, one should look forward to eternal place.
Quoting from the Bible (John 14:3), Chishi said God was preparing a place for believers and that it was still in the process of completion.
He said during God’s second coming, everything old would be dissolved and all things would be made new again.
Pointing out that God has promised new life to believers, Chishi said that now believers walk by faith but a time would come when they would walk by sight.
Asking the congregation to be prepared for new life, Chishi said only who thirst and live for God and the “over comers” would enter the new heaven and earth.
Earlier, God’s blessing was invoked upon the toppers by Pastor, SBCPB, Reverend Vitoi Kappo and Sunday school children from Mount view colony, Purana Bazar, performed the opening act.
The toppers were also felicitated by Sumi Baptist Church Purana Bazar.
