NSCN (K) has said the “wrong calculation and negative feelings” toward the group by the centre would force it to break the cease-fire signed in 2001.

In a press release, Y. Wangtin Naga, a senior kilonser (minister) and supervisor of Cease-fire Supervisor Board (CFSB) of NSCN (K), who has recently returned from Myanmar, said split of NSCN (K) in June 2011 had brought more destruction to the NSCN (K) and violations of cease-fire agreement by the centre.

He said the centre had wrongly believed that the breakaway group led by Khole Konyak and N. Kitovi could resolve the long pending Naga political problem, adding that the much importance was accorded to the breakaway group which had generated negative feelings toward NSCN (K) by the Centre with the sole objective to weaken the outfit.

Wangtin said in an effort to weaken the NSCN (K), the centre had even allocated their designated camps to the breakaway group of NSCN (Khole-Kitovi) which was totally illegal according to the cease-fire agreement. He said the Centre’s plan was to weaken NSCN (K) but the plan would not be successful.

Reiterating NSCN (K)’s position on sovereignty of Nagaland, Wangtin said his group represented the people and not “Khole party” who have become part and parcel of government of India.

He also asked the Centre to restrain its activities which would be detrimental to the ongoing peace process.

He said NSCN (K) has established a strong base in Myanmar after the peace truce and that it would not hesitate to break the peace process with New Delhi if they (GoI) tried to push them to the wall.
Underscoring NSCN (K)’s influence within the circle of Northeast people, Wangtin said the same could not be reduced by the government of India through illegal means.

He said his outfit wanted to maintain brotherhood relationship with the Centre and its security forces till the resolution of Naga political.

Wangtin also accused the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of backtracking from its commitments citing examples when the cadres at Ahthibung designated camp were withdrawn to be camped at Kuthuro-Wungpho designated camp near Tuensang town, MHA later de-notified the camp and the cadres were left at large with camp.

The supervisor of CFSB of NSCN (K) requested the centre to let them have a designated camp in Tuensang so as to accommodate the cadres who were withdrawn from the Ahthibung camp. He said random arrested of cadres in Tuensang by the security forces was unfair as the cadres have no camp to stay and but dwell in public places.
