In a major haul, troops of 31 and 23 Assam Rifles (AR) seized a huge consignment of arms, ammunition and explosives from Panso village in Tuensang district.
PRO (IGAR-N) in a press release said based on specific intelligence input, AR troops carried out a meticulously operation and apprehended six persons including three suspected FGN cadres and an arms dealer.
AR troop seized 33 pistols, one bolt action rifle, one 12 bore gun, 1.25 kg gun powder, 17 rounds of ammunition and huge quantity items used for repair and manufacture of weapons.
PRO said such massive recovery in the close proximity of Indo-Myanmar border was likely to expose certain groups involved in manufacture and illegal trans-border movement of weapons and ammunition.
