TB awareness programme held in district. sub-jail, Wokha

Thera Welfare Society (TWS) along with RNTCP staff conducted one day awareness programme on TB related issues through mid-media activities programme on September 18 at district sub-jail, Wokha with support from Emmanuel Hospital Association (EHA) under Axshya project.

The Society with an objective to provide welfare programmes and to prevent TB disease from the district extended counseling services to the jail inmates.

According to TWS president Therali Tungoe, the awareness programme was organized as “prisoners are most vulnerable groups to have chances of TB” and that they were “less aware” of such communicable diseases.

Symptoms of TB, its causes, sputum testing and treatment facilities were the topics covered during the programme.

Further, TWS has requested all public of the district to extend co-operation while conducting such mid-media and sensitization meetings under EHA Project Axshya for TB awareness programme.  Altogether 49 inmates, jail staff and public attended the programme.

Meanwhile, TWS president has expressed gratitude to all the inmates, jail staffs specially the assistant jailor of district sub-jail, Wokha for their co-operation and support in making the programme a success.
