Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president S.I. Jamir has clarified that he had told the reporter of the Kolkata-based daily, that the Congress would be participating in the meeting with the Fourteenth Finance Commission officials in Kohima but “not in the manner falsely published” in a local daily.

Reacting to the October 5 report, S.I.Jamir said , every one was aware of the “alarming misuse and mismanagement of huge funds allotted during the current Thirteenth Finance Commission (TFC) to the DAN government” during the past ten years.

Stating that Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee  had voiced its protests on many occasions amidst the testimony of “rising hue and cry of the public”, he said there was therefore, no question of Congress seeking additional funds.

He described the report as “a concocted news item, intended to mislead the public” that the Congress was endorsing the “misrule and misgovernance of DAN”.

The NPCC chief asserted that the newspaper could have “authenticated” the view directly from the source and not to publish a matter of public importance “on hearsay”.
