Ministry of parliament affairs has decided to introduce youth parliament competition in Navodaya Vidyalayas throughout the country by conducting various forms of competitions.
Meanwhile, with a view to strengthen the roots of democracy, inculcate healthy habits of discipline, tolerance of the view of others and to enable the student community to know something about the working of parliament, JNV Peren organized a youth parliament on October 11 at its school premises.
On the occasion, students displayed their leadership qualities and enacted the role of Parliamentarians in true spirit.
Lieutenant Colonel Sumeet Sharma, Registrar, Sainik School Punglwa graced the occasion as chief guest. Other jury members included principal JNV Dimapur, Mahendra Singh and Akangna Iheilung, ex-DEO Phek.
The chief guest impressed by the performances of the students said, Navodaya Vidyalayas were doing a commendable job in the field of education.
He expressed hope that in the coming days, JNV Peren would become the centre of excellence in all spheres.
Similarly, principal JNV Dimapur urged JNV students to strive for excellence in all the fields so they can serve the nation in a better way with true patriotism.
Ex-DEO Phek in her speech, congratulated JNV principal and staff for imparting quality education to the student community of the rural area.
She advised the students to be regular, sincere and punctual in studies, and urged the students to avail the best opportunities available in the campus.
Principal JNV Peren, Dr. A. Kasiah presented a brief history of the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in general and JNV Peren in particular.
He said that the Vidyalaya administration was making all out effort to make the Vidyalaya not only a centre of excellence, but also to bring out the hidden talents and potentialities of students.
Kasiah also highlighted the achievement made by the Vidyalaya within its short span since its inception in 2006, wherein 14 students of first batch of Class 12 got admission in professional courses like BDS, BAMS and Engineering etc.
JNV Peren got selected as ‘Samsung smart school’ in which one interacting board, 21 laptops, 10 tablets and printer etc., worth Rs. 16 lakh was received, he added.
NSF general secretary, Esther in her brief speech stressed on the need of values and proper habits among the students to become the bright citizens of the country.
In addition to the Youth Parliament, students also presented colourful folk dances of the Ao community, bamboo dance and multi-languages dance glorifying the theme unity in diversity, the salient feature of Indian culture.
Under youth parliament programme, students were trained under the supervision of Surangini Devi TGT-SSt of the Vidyalaya.
