Nationwide agitation is being observed at Food Corporation of India (FCI), regional office Nagaland & Manipur (N & M) Dimapur at Bank Colony Dimapur.
FCI launched started its agitation against non-fulfillment of the various long pending demands of the corporation employee by the management of FCI and the central government on October 17.
The agitation will continue in phase manner in all the work places of FCI and will end up with a nationwide token strike on November 22, and if the demands are not fulfilled, the union would resort to indefinite nationwide strike as programmed.
The main demands are new pension scheme, assured career progression, fringe benefit to the category cat–iii & iv employees and other welfare schemes.
In Nagaland, there are 4 food storage depots (FSDs) which include FSD Dimapur, FSD Mon, FSD Mokokchung & FSD Tuensang.
FSD Dimapur is the nerve point in Nagaland which handles more than 6 lakhs metric tonnes in last financial year covering parts of Assam, Manipur & Nagaland for Public Distribution System (PDS).
Phase -II agitation would start on December 17 which will be for indefinite period, and total bandh in operation of depots and office would be affected, stated Yanger Aier, regional secretary, Bhartiya Khadya Nigam Karamchari Sangh/FCI Workers Union.
The union has therefore appealed to all to support the cause during the agitation and bear the hardship, and also regret for inconvenience caused during the agitation.
